My Journey

My journey started in 1984 when I studied Foundation Art at the Oldham College learning all about photography and dark room printing. My further education at the Middlesborough College of Art and Design cemented my love of photography. My course was three years in length and covered photography, graphics, illustration and film. The last two years specialising in photography and film.

My love for fashion and styling came during my college years when I attended the Jeff Banks show at The Clothes Show. As a guest, I was able to be on stage and to the side of the stage shooting the show.
Following on from this I started my working life for a studio in Manchester as an assistant photographer and stylist working on fashion and commercial shoots.

I spent a few years working in America within an entirely different industry before heading home to find myself behind the camera again, taking up photography and stylist work again. In 1991 I was the Prince Youth Business Trust Award Winner for 1990 to 1991. Meeting Prince Charles to receive the award is one of my greatest achievements to date!

Following this I decided to make the brave decision to move to America again but this time to continue with my photography career in New York until 2003. I worked for modelling agencies, commercial photography studios, stylists and film production companies as an assistant arranging props and lighting for sets, a stylist, a photographer, and talent scout to name just a few! Some clients over the years included; Macy’s, Bloomingdales, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, Denzel Washington, Lee Evans, Chris Rock, Public Enemy and the film ‘Raising Helen’ starring Kate Hudson and John Corbett.

Over more recent years I have raised a family and worked with children and adults with disabilities alongside my wedding and event photography. Living and working in Saddleworth has provided me with lots of inspiration for landscape photography alongside local event photography.
